My brother brought a couple of bottles of Iron Maiden’s Trooper Ale brewed by the Robinsons Brewery to my house and I was excited to try it. I am a fan of Iron Maiden and when I heard that this beer came out, I wanted to try it.
The head of the beer was small, fizzy and white in color. The carbonation was soft and the beer has a clear clarity to it with an amber color.
The aroma has an earthy hop note with bread and grain from the malt. The taste up front has little hop note but it balances out the malt flavors of caramel and bread grain from the malt. This is a crisp ale that is well-balanced, but a little more carbonation would be good. It is light-bodied and easy-drinking that makes it a fine session ale, which is what I am sure Bruce Dickinson was going for.
All in all, this was a good beer. It has fine drinkability and a nice flavor profile. If I was at a bar or pub and Trooper was on tap, I’d order it.
ABV = 4.7%
Would Eddie drink it?
I’m sure that he would.
