West Coast IPA – Green Flash Brewing Company

West Coast IPA

West Coast IPA is a wonderful IPA. Is it the best IPA ever?

So to start off, my friend Stephen said that I had to try this beer.  He said that West Coast IPA from Green Flash Brewing Company is the best IPA he’s had up to this point in his life. So with an introduction like that I just had to try it.

First off the bottle has a nice shape to it.  I poured this IPA into my glass and it has a nice amber color to it.  The head is large, off-white in color and foamy and it has a soft carbonation.

Leaning over the glass, I pick up strong citrus notes, pine and grapefruit. The wonderful aroma of hops totally envelopes your sense of smell. Let me pause while I smell it for a little longer………………………………………okay, sorry.

The first sip of this beer blows you back with flavor.  There is a quick taste of alcohol that is then immediately followed up with the hops.  The hops take center stage with this IPA.  Hoppy bitterness through and through. There are notes of grapefruit, citrus and pine that take hold of your palate and dances gracefully all over it.  The use of hops is not overdone with this IPA.  They are controlled well so that you can enjoy the taste of the hops in the beer.  It does not offend your palate. West Coast IPA is a medium body beer and has a creamy mouthfeel.   Drinking this beer was a wonderful experience. Stephen, you were right.

ABV = 7.3%
