Saison Vos – Sly Fox Brewing Company

  I picked up a 750 ml bottle of Sly Fox's Saison Vos from the store.  I enjoy saisons, so I was looking forward to trying this one. In the glass, this saison has a hazy golden color that has a fair amount of carbonation. The head is fizzy in appearance, white in color and small, barely one finger thick. The aroma of Saison Vos has the hops that are on the front end, along with notes of bread, biscuit and earthy yeast characteristics.  There are also wisps of orange peel and fruit. That first sip has a hop spice note, then goes right into raisin and dried fruit flavors with a slight sweetness to it. The more I sip this beer the more those dried fruit flavors come out making every sip enjoyable. It finishes well, but it doesn't have that dryness to it that is present in a saison.  It also does not have that high carbonation that you'd expect from this style.  I would definitely try Saison Vos again, but if it was between this and a Saison Dupont, the Dupont is being selected. ABV = 6.9%
