Pineapple Sculpin – Ballast Point Brewing Company

Pineapple Sculpin - Ballast Point
Ballast Point Brewing Company has quickly emerged as a top-tier brewery.  Their IPA line known as  Sculpin seems to what brought notice to them.  The Pineapple Scuplin is one of their versions of an IPA that infuses pineapple to the beer. Pineapple Sculpin has an orange body color that has a clear clarity.  It has a medium rate of carbonation and a large head that is off-white in color and foamy in texture.  It dissipates slowly and leave a nice lacing on the glass. The aroma that I perceive from Pineapple Sculpin at first is sweet-smelling pineapple followed by citrus hops. The smell is reminiscent of standing in a pineapple grove. The taste is refreshing.  The pineapple comes through -- but not too intense and allows the citrusy and piney hop notes to emerge. I also get caramel and bready flavors.  After smelling the pineapple and you go for a sip, your mind prepares you for a sweet taste.  But this is a dry beer that has tropical-like flavor, goes down smooth and has a medium body mouthfeel. I really enjoyed this beer.  This is a definite summer beer for those who enjoy IPAs.  This is a quality beer. ABV = 7.0%
