Pumpkin. The one gourd that finds itself in high demand these days. You don’t see alot of squash or zucchini beers. But just tossing pumpkin into your brew doesn’t make it a pumpkin beer. That’s beer with pumpkin thrown into it. Weyerbacher has crafted an Imperial Pumpkin Ale that may be the best pumpkin beer that I have had so far.
This beer just looks great in a glass. A nice ruby/red color, clear body clarity with medium carbonation. The head size is large and foamy and it dissipated slowly throughout the tasting.
The aroma of this ale is intoxicating. I pick up a sweet pumpkin and clove that goes so well together. The taste of this beer is complex. It is a big beer that has a great pumpkin taste that is complemented with hints of cinnamon spice. There is also a great malt taste to it that marries well with the pumpkin. On the finish, there is a slight alcohol taste but that pumpkin shines through. This beer is autumn in a glass.
