What is the original Belgian wheat ale? Why, it’s Hoegaarden from Brouwerij van Hoegaarden. I was given a bottle of this fine-looking ale and was more than happy to sip on it, and enjoy it.
After poured, this white ale has a light straw color and has a hazy body clarity. The head was quite large, white in color and foamy in appearance.
The aroma of this beer has orange notes and a spicy background that you detect slightly. Taking the first sip of Hoegaarden, there are hints of coriander and orange peel. There is also a sweetness from the malt that washes over the palate that makes this an enjoyable beer to drink. Hoegaarden is a refreshing beer that is perfect for the summer. Easy drinking, great tasting.
