Delirium Tremens – Brouwerij Huyghe

Delirium Tremens
My friend Mike and I went to the beer store to look for new brews that we haven't tried yet.  One beer that I spotted was Delirium Tremens brewed by Brouwerji Huyghe.  I have seen this beer before but never tried it.  We bought the bottle as one to have that day. Delirium has a nice golden body color, a clear clarity and moderate carbonation.  It has a white foamy head that dissipates slowly and leaves a thin lacing on the glass. The aromas that of light honey, apricot, peach, Belgian yeast notes and a malty presence.  It has an inviting smell that is  subtle and complex.    The taste is similar to the aroma with those stone fruit flavors of apricots, peach that lends a slight sweetness to it.  There are also flavors of candy sugar, slight raisin, and Belgian yeast characteristics.  The finish of the beer has a white wine-like dryness that lends a nice closure to this beer. This is a solid beer.  Delirium will be added to my rotation as a bottle to purchase every so often and enjoy. ABV = 8.5%
