Coffee Oatmeal Milk Stout. Does it get any better than this? Thank you, River Horse. Coffee Oatmeal Milk Stout. Let's say that again. Coffee. Oatmeal. Milk Stout. Just saying the name of this beer crafted from River Horse Brewing Co., it sounds absolutely amazing. So as I select my glass and get the bottle opener, I am ready to try this stout. In the glass, it has a dark almost black body color to it that contrasts to the medium brown and frothy head that makes this beer beautiful to look at. The carbonation is soft from what I could see as the beer is very dark. This Coffee Oatmeal Milk Stout has aromas of espresso. It's not an overly intense coffee smell but just enough that you know that coffee is in the make-up of this beer. There are also chocolate aromas that lend a sense of sweetness to it. Tasting this beer, I pick up espresso again and some bitter baker's chocolate taste that is from the malt. Along with those, I also pick up a nice sweetness that you'd expect from a milk stout. The oatmeal lends a nice taste to it but it also imparts a nice layer of flavor and body to the beer. Every ingredient comes together nice in the brew and has a nice finish after each sip. It has a creamy mouthfeel and is an almost-medium bodied beer that makes it a beer for all seasons. River Horse has crafted this beer as one of their Brewer's Reserve collection, but I hope that this becomes one of their permanent beers that they make. I look forward to having this beer again.
