Belgian Session – Samuel Adams

A nice, subtle Belgian Session ale. This Belgian Session Ale from Samuel Adams is an enjoyable beer.  I love Belgian ales that have that have big flavors.  This beer is not one of those. When I poured the beer, the head size was small, fizzy and white in color.  It dissipated quickly, though. The clarity is clear and the carbonation is soft. The body color is a nice amber. The hop aroma is a feint of citrus and grapefruit.  Upon the first sip, you are hit with slight clove and banana notes that aren't overpowering. You also get a little of the citrus from the hops.  On the finish, you get the nice malt flavor and the carbonation is lively on the tongue which helps round the beer out. This is a well-balanced beer that was enjoyable to dink. If you have had those Belgian Ales in the past that have that heavy clove/banana taste and you didn't care for them, try this one.  It is a subtle version of a Belgian Ale you may like, but it is not a Belgian Ale. ABV = 4.3%
